HOUSE RULES

1.    FIRST OF ALL, HAVE FUN!  You’re here on vacation and we want you to feel at home.

2.     Check in time is 4:00 pm and check out time is 10:00 am.  Keeping to the schedule helps us get the house ready for our next guest.

3.    We have provided expanded cable and toll-free telephone service within the US and Canada.  If you need to call overseas, please call the operator (dialing 0) and have the call charged to a credit card.

4.    Please, no colored beverages in the house (red wine, kool-aid, popsicles, etc.).  The white furniture just isn’t that forgiving.  There is little that compares to enjoying a glass of red wine while you watch the sun go down, we just ask that you do so on the front porch or on any of the 10 acres.

5.    Please use ONLY synthetic clean-burning logs in the fireplace (e.g., Duraflame).

6.    Please turn off ALL lights when you leave the property.  The “canned” lights especially could be a fire hazard if left on indefinitely.

7.    Please do not leave your clothes on the floor.  This is purely for your protection.  While rare, Central Texas homes are known for occasionally attracting scorpions.

8.    Please do not set the thermostat below 72 degrees and keep the fan set on “Auto”.  We try to be as environmentally friendly as possible.  We have provided fans if this is not cool enough.

9.    Please NO SMOKING in the house. Outside is fine but we do ask that you pick up any cigarette butts left behind.

10.    Most of the windows in the house are painted shut and should not be pried open.  The majority are the original windows that were installed in the house when it was built back in the 1940s.

11.    Please feel free to use the “utility room” at will (washer, dryer, etc.).  It is, however, a common area and will be used by all and we do use the pantry for storage. Also, please keep the door between the kitchen and the utility room closed.

12.    Detergent, fabric softners, etc. are provided for your convenience.  One note, since we have a water softening system installed, it is only necessary to use about ½ the recommended detergent for load of laundry.

13.    Trash bags are provided and kept under the kitchen sink.  Please bring full trash bags to the green trash containers at the bottom of the hill (near the gate).  Any of the three green trash containers may be used.

14.    Please keep the house towels at the house.  They are meant for in-house use only and are not meant to be taken off the property (e.g., to the lake).

15.    The fountain should be turned off when leaving the property and should not be left on for more than 8 hours at a time.  The remote control for the fountain should be kept in the top kitchen drawer closet to the front entrance.

16.    Owners may come into the house on occasion to check on the utilities (electrical, plumbing, cable, telephone, etc.)

17.    Lastly, please keep us informed of your stay. We are committed to making your stay as  magnificent as possible!
